Rounding Up the Nokia C-Series Handsets
With the announcement of the new Nokia C3 2G handset, we now get a full picture of Nokia’s low end handset series. For anyone looking for simple, affordable 2G handsets, here is a quick roundup of the entire C-series from the Finnish manufacturer.
The C1 is actually 3 handsets, the C1-00, C1-01 and the C1-02. The C1-00 stands out from the other two as it allows users to plug in two SIM cards into the device. The 00 however, is not a real dual SIM handset, only one SIM can be active –users will be able to switch from 1 SIM card to another using a shortcut from the phone’s menu.
The C1-01 and the C1-02 are more traditional candy bar handsets. And in terms of specs, the two devices are practically identical. The only difference is that the C1-02 comes with a VGA camera. Overall, the C1-00 is the best choice between the three.
Nokia’s C2 is a true dual SIM handset. Users will have two active SIM cards at all times and one of the SIM card slots is hot-swappable (a first in mobile phone technology). Apparently, the other SIM card serves as a primary card while the other can be replaced at any time.
Newest in the series is the Nokia C3. This device looks a lot like a smart phone thanks to it 2.4 inch TFT screen and front facing QWERTY keyboard. In terms of extras, this phone does not offer anything new like the C2’s dual SIM technology, but it does have WiFi support and social networking integration. So people can still get to check Facebook, Tweet and connect to Nokia’s Ovi network without having 3G.
Overall, the Nokia C-series of handsets offers users a wide choice of cheap affordable mobile phones that would serve well for secondary numbers.
