Nokia’s X5-01 is Square and Musical
There plenty of new impressive handsets that are coming out and as much as we would want to include the possibly upcoming X5-01 Symbian smart phone, we would have to hold back.
Sure, the square form factor is quite fun and the color choices are certainly attractive for many users. But overall, this handset still lacks some key features that would have made it the perfect listening buddy to have around.
But first, a quick look into the device itself: featuring a nice 2.3 inch display, a slide out QWERTY keyboard, plenty of colors to choose from and the Symbian^3 operating system; the X5-01 makes for a very eye catching device. It has an excellent music player, an intuitive playlist arrangement system and great audio quality that is sure to satisfy any music fan.
Sadly, the device still lacks a few major features that would have attracted its target market better. First off, the device does not have social networking integration. It may not seem like a big deal since it does have a browser and support for HTML, but lacking instant access to updates and posts is something that people will certainly complain about.
GPS is also another important feature that has not been added in. Aside from not being able to access Foursquare (which would have made for some hilarious promotions on this device), a good chunk of this phone’s target market like to use location based services -which are linked to having GPS.
Overall, it is still a great phone to have, but since there are other choices, like the Nokia X6 or other devices in the XpressMusic series, music fans might want to hold off on buying this device. With the exception of the phone’s really eye-catching visual appearance, this new Nokia handset certainly falls under the mediocre category.
