Nokia has yet to make the official announcement, but it seems that the latest C Series handset, the C7-00 smart phone, is finally out and available for many.

The handset itself looks like a typical touch screen smart phone –and while that is not good, there are some small issues with the device itself that might want to make interested parties look elsewhere. This mostly revolves around the fact that the screen on the device is a standard TFT resistive touch screen display. Even at 3.5 inches, the controls on resistive touch screens leave a lot to be desired and that will certainly be an issue for most people.

With most smart phones supporting gestures, finger movements, kinetic scrolling and other capacitive touch screen related features, it would be hard having to adjust back to the older method of relying on a stylus –not to mention that fact that it is so easy to accidentally lose that very important accessory to the C7-00.

The 8 mega pixel camera does add a bit of good value to this smart phone. Since most devices only use a 3.2 to 5 mega pixel camera, the C7-00’s snapper makes for a good alternative. But the bottom line here is that it will require a person who is truly specific about image quality to go for the 8MP device when more affordable 3.2 to 5 MP handsets are available elsewhere. It also packs auto focus features and dual LED flash support.

As expected of a smart phone, the C7-00 brings support for both 2G and 3G, WiFi (wireless LAN), Bluetooth, EDGE/GPRS, micro SD cards, micro USB and it even has a document viewer for handling files and other content. Media playback for a wide range of music and video formats are available and according to the spec sheet, the handset will also support Flash version 3.1.
