Nokia 2730 Classic. Simply simple
There are many solid reasons why Nokia are talking about and promoting the Nokia 2730 Classic as being for the ‘emerging markets’ (that is, people in places like rural China and India who probably don’t have the internet at home and very little disposable income in general). Amongst these, most have too do with price, and again, they have a very solid argument:
- The handset itself is going to be cheap, very cheap (just 80 Euros before country-specific subsidies)
- The internet, while optimised to run fast, will run on low bandwidth, keeping data package costs low
- The battery life is huge – up to 17 days on standy – cutting down on re-charge electricity costs
- Standard sales packages include a 1GB memory card and stereo wired headset
- It comes with Nokia Life Tools and Nokia Maps pre-installed, meaning you’ve pretty much all the communications and media tools you need
We could go on. Added to this, the Nokia 2730 Classic is a bit of a good looker too, coming with a fantastic silver/metal finish, also as standard. And it weighs in at just 88 grams…
So while we can see why Nokia believe all these features of the Nokia 2730 Classic will make it extremely desirable in those so-called emerging markets, we think they’ll also make it more than worth looking at whatever market you find yourself in. So keep your eyes peeled for the third quarter release date, and who knows, you might be tempted into a life of cheap, simple living.
