Nokia E72. Lights, camera, and lots of action

June 19, 2009

It’s not often easy to get excited about an update, or relaunch. But even though those familiar with the already fantastic E71 will recognise the look of the new Nokia E72, we still there’s more than enough going on in the E72 to write home about. Or write a blog about at least…

First up, the camera’s been given a massive boost to 5MP, and with an LED flash and autofocus, that sounds like more than good enough for a phone-based camera to us. There’s also now a 3.5mm jack input on the top of the phone, perfect for plugging in your favourite headphones and sticking the handset into your top or trouser pocket. And seeing as how slim, light and streamlined this handset is, it’ll slot straight in. And Nokia being Nokia, they’re also rumoured to be chucking in a 4GG micro SD card with the package once this thing is released in a few months time. There’s also a new ‘optical’ navigation key – a bit like something you’d find on a laptop. We think this might be one of those things that’s tricky to get your head (or your finger) around at first, but also don’t doubt that once you do it’ll make scrolling and panning a thing of joy. The Nokia E72’s all round performance has also been given a massive boost, so expect the Symbian S60-based system to run all your emails, internet and Quickoffice tasks at high speed.

All in all, we think this autumn is going to be the time when people are talking about only one business phone, and it’s the Nokia E72. There’s a Nokia E72 review here. And feast your eyes on this simple but lovely video to whet your appetite for release date. Yum.
