Whether it be cheap run around phones, designed to be used rarely and looks not being important, or an important business phone which needs all the latest high tech specs, Nokia cater for all different needs. Their new phone, the Nokia 6700 classic slide phone is aimed to be a cheaper model than others, whilst giving fantastic 3G and internet facilities as well as great photography equipment. The phone comes in 6 different colors, from bright red, to deep purple and lime green, so you can easily find a suitable color for you. The phone uses brand new 3G technology which allows you to quickly connect to the internet, especially social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and twitter. This allows you to update your statuses and keep people in the know where ever you may be. Perhaps you are performing at a gig in London and want to let everyone know how it is going, or maybe you jut got the new job you were hoping for.

The phone comes complete with a 5 megapixel camera, which is built nicely into the design of the camera. This allows you to take professional looking shots on your phone, rather than having to bring along with you a digital camera. Once taken, the photos can be edited and then transferred to your computer or even uploaded straight onto your website from the phone thanks to the 3G technology. Expected to retail at around £140, this Nokia phone is due to be released in the first quarter of 2010, around March.

Recently, Nokia made an announcement concerning both phones upcoming availability. They can be purchased in 2010. The 6700 and 7230 are 3G slider handsets. The Nokia 6700 slide is a feature rich phone, available in a myriad of colors. The 7230 is a bit less robust, but still a good phone for its price range.

The 6700 Slide has a 5 megapixel camera, optics by Carl Zeiss, a 2.2 inch QVGA screen with 320X240 pixels. Individuals will be able to record video and take and edit pictures which are capable of being uploaded them to the internet. The 6700 comes with a FM radio, music player and 45 MB of storage. Individuals looking to ramp up the amount of memory can do so via a microSD card. They will be able to add up to 16 gigabytes of space.

The Nokia 7230 is a little less robust in its features then the Nokia 6700 screen. The screen is s bit bigger though, with a 2.4 inch versus the 2.2 inch, 6700 screen. The 252,000 color display on the 7230 Slide however is a lot less than what is available on the 6700. The 7230 has a 3.2 megapixel camera, messaging capabilities, FM radio, message and call alerts and a dedicated camera key.

Both of these handsets will be available during the first part of 2010. Right now the price for the Nokia 6700 is €160 and €100 for the Nokia 7230.

The Nokia 6700 Slide and the Nokia 7230 are reasonably priced phones, especially for the features that they offer. The 6700 is a lit nicer, with more to offer. It has a really good camera, adequate storage, and a music player, though the screen is a little small. At €160, it has been priced about right. The Nokia 7230 is a bit cheaper and it should be. It doesn’t have as many features. However, it’s still seems to be a pretty good phone, especially for the money. €100 is about right. It should be competitive at this price point. Make sure you keep checking back to see what Nokia 6700 Slide deals and Nokia 7230 contracts are available.

The 6700 Slide should not be confused with the earlier and highly popular phone from Nokia, the 6700 Classic. Why Nokia chose to (re-)use the same number is unclear, but be may be an attempt to cash in on the popularity of the latter handset. This is an unnecessary move on Nokia’s part as the 6700 Slide has all the appeal and charm that was to be found in the 6700 Classic, and more so.

The 6700 Slide is, as the name would suggest, a sliding phone. The sliding mechanism is robust and sturdy and reveals a T9 keypad below the 2.2″ VGA screen. On the front of the phone there are also some additional call accept/reject buttons and menu navigational buttons. The display itself is pretty sharp and bright, employing 16.7 million colours that shows off the Symbian interface in all its charm. And this is a colourful phone; it is available in six colours, from silver and blue, to red, yellow and even pink.

Lots of fun can be had with the 5 megapixel snapper that comes with Carl Zeiss optics. This is a pretty decent phone camera for a phone of this price range and is probably one of the highlights of the 6700 Slide.

With HSDPA, WCDMA, USB and Bluetooth there is lots of connectivity options to choose from. MicroSD is available and a 2GB card is included in the package. One noticeable area where the 6700 Slide falls short however, is its audio jack which is a mere 2.5mm instead of the standard 3.5mm affair. This unfortunately means the purchasing of proprietary headphones, or at least a special adapter for your own set if you wish to listen to music discreetly. This is a slight oversight on Nokia’s part and perhaps the biggest letdown of this phone, which is otherwise spot on in every department.
